Welcome to CarBUDi

The CarBUDi scheme simply matches individuals with others wanting to travel in the same direction so they can share both the journey and the costs

Any individual over the age of 16 can use the scheme. People can offer lifts and those without cars or a valid driving licence can look for lifts. Don’t forget you don’t have to drive to be a CarBUDi!

The scheme can be used for regular journeys, such as commuting, or one off journeys like business trips plus occasional journeys like visiting friends or relatives

Once you have joined the scheme members simply register their journey and the system automatically lists all potential CarBUDi matches. These matches are displayed in both table and map format, allowing the user to easily find the most suitable people

Having found a match the user simply sends an automated email to any likely matches and arranges to travel together

To make car sharing even more practical Essex County Council offer all registered, active members employed by the County Council a guaranteed ride home in the event of an emergency.
